19 May Hello & Welcome
We are so excited about having opened our small bed and breakfast in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. We hope you will come and visit. There is so much to do and see in this scenic and historic area. And now the weather is perfect for many outdoor activities: hiking on the Appalachian Trail or other mountain trails, driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway, biking, fishing, row boating, picnicking, and viewing flowers and wildlife. Speaking of wildlife, the goslings have hatched !! One pair of geese on the pond has 3 babies. So far they have eluded photos but I hope to be able to capture them on film and post the pictures soon.
There are also so many historic sites in this area – in Lexington and Staunton – Civil War related and otherwise. Then there are many cultural activities, from the American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Theater to the Frontier Culture Museum to the outdoor Lime Kiln Theater to one of the last remaining drive-in movie theaters. For horse enthusiastists there is the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington. For antique lovers there are loads of antique shops and malls. For those who are interested I propose to use this blog to keep you informed of the activities going on in this area: what’s playing at the Blackfriars, what shows are going on at the Horse Center, what local festivals are happening, etc. I’ll also let you know what’s in season: when the raspberries or blueberries are ready for picking and what’s blooming in the garden.
